Setting up your Moondial is very straightforward and similar to setting up a clock. Once you have taken the contents out of the packaging, you will have two components: the Moondial and the 12v wall adapter. First plug the dc jack of the power supply into the plug on the back of the Moondial and plug the other end into a wall outlet. Then turn the dimmer on so the LED lighting system is illuminating the lunar globe. Next, you set the moon phase display to the current phase using the adjustment wheel on the base by referencing our lunar calendar. That’s all! Now your Moondial will automatically update its moon phase in sync with the actual Moon for many years. From there you can choose to adjust the light output with the dimmer, including turning the light all the way off without interrupting the moon phase movement.

Yes, Moondial comes with a 1-year warranty. We will ensure that you are delivered a quality and long-lasting product, but in the event of a manufacturer error, we will do everything we can to make it right.

Moondial is meant to run fully automatic, with the only ongoing control feature being the LED dimmer. The only maintenance would be cleaning the outer surface. For cleaning, we recommend gently wiping down the black housing with a wet paper towel or using a duster (be sure to unplug the power supply before wiping the back cover). For the lunar globe, an air duster or feather duster would be best. Wiping the lunar globe is not recommended because the detailed terrain has sharp edges that might catch the wipe’s fibers.

People track the Moon for many reasons. Sometimes the sky is not clear and the Moon and stars are obscured, other times, the Moon is more prominent in the daytime with a crescent phase that is not easily visible in the sunlight. Moondial is meant to accompany anyone who wishes to observe and better understand the Moon and its cycles by giving them a reliable and easily accessible simulation in real time. This will allow one to internalize its rhythm and gain a better grasp of the intricacies of its effect on natural phenomena and the human psyche 🌝✨ Additionally, it is a great educational tool for young ones to begin to see how the Moon changes every day, even if they don't intentionally take the time to go outside and observe the lunar cycle directly. Although, our hope is that Moondial encourages more direct connection with the natural beauty of the Moon. Fundamentally, when you see your Moondial each day, it gives you an awareness of what to look for outside so you can more easily spot the phase and position of the Moon.
